Check-in with Your Leaders

Updated: Mar 24, 2021

When the mighty fall, we pause for a moment and look around. Remember when Robin Williams died? The nation was shocked- he smiled through the pain while making us all laugh. Anthony Bourdain and Kate Spade, the list goes on.

The same brilliance that makes great leaders, creative entrepreneurs, the people that reimagine the world- often comes with fear, doubt, loneliness. The ones that seem the strongest, who gracefully carry the weight of the world on their shoulders, are often just better at hiding how the pressure is crushing them. Who takes care of the people that take care of everyone else? The ones that feel they always have to be strong. That they aren't allowed to feel sad because they have so much and many depend on their strength.

Depression isn't something cured like an infection. Mental health is more like physical fitness, requiring daily exercise. Some days we slip up, which is okay as long as we get back up. Success, wealth, popularity- doesn't make a person immune. Hold on to hope and purpose. You're not alone. National Suicide Hotline: 1-800-273-8255
